A Gift for You – The 2011 BPT Holiday Mixtape!

The holidays are upon us. I suppose most of you are either off work or heading out early to spend time with your families. There’s not a whole lot going on as far as events go, so we decided to send you all off with a little holiday mixtape featuring songs that, hopefully, haven’t been played to death this holiday season.

We got holiday reggae, rap, blues, soul, country and punk for you; some tried and true holiday classics like one of the original 1949 versions of “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” (the other version, released that same year was by Dinah Shore and Buddy Clark) and The Ronette’s girl-group rendition of “Frosty the Snowman” (off of the classic Phil Spector Christmas album) and of course, The Pogues’ modern holiday classic “Fairytale of New York” featuring the late, great Kirsty MacColl. It’s twenty songs of pure eclectic, holiday bliss and it’s our present to you. Enjoy the tunes and have a Happy Holiday from all of us here at Brown Paper Tickets. Read the rest of this entry »

The early 60’s Northwest garage rock era spawned seminal bands like The Sonics and The Wailers. And Seattle’s incredible punk scene of the early 80s sowed the seeds for the grunge scene that would follow. Read the rest of this entry »

ROCK IN THE NEW YEAR!!

Friday is New Years Eve! Can you believe it? Have you made plans yet? I hope you’re not going to sit on the couch with a Coors Light dwelling on all the bad decisions you made this year. You did that last year. I think that this year you should get out of the house and go see some killer live music and forget everything. Why not ring in this New Year with style? You deserve it. It doesn’t matter if you’re in Paducah, Kentucky or Olympia, Washington, we here at Brown Paper Tickets got a whole slew of killer shows to choose from. Here’s three good ones that caught my eye that are, miraculously, not sold out yet. Read the rest of this entry »
