BPT Mixtape #14 – Graeme’s UK Rock City!

It’s been too long since we’ve posted a BPT Mixtape, but fear not, the wait is over. Graeme over in our UK office put together a killer mix of his favorite hard-rocking hits. Lots of great stuff here: classic 70’s hard rock with AC/DC and KISS, some nice Brit-pop courtesy of Oasis, James and the Manic Street Preachers and current indie-rock faves The Hold Steady and The Gaslight Anthem. There’s even some comedic rapping courtesy of New Zealand’s Flight of the Conchords! One thing these songs all have in common? They all rock. Thanks Graeme. Read the rest of this entry »

CIMMFest 2011 – Chicago International Movies and Music Festival, April 14-17

Love music? Love movies? Well, Chicago, you’re in luck! Beginning Thursday, April 14, the 2011 Chicago International Movies & Music Festival kicks off. “Bringing together movies about music, movies for music, movies of music, and movies capturing music as it is made.” CIMMfest will take place in the music mecca of Wicker Park and will consist of three days of movie screenings, panel discussions, workshops, and more. The whole festival will kick off with the world premiere of Fix: The Ministry Movie, a documentary about influential Chicago industrial band Ministry.

“Fix” was directed by Douglas Freel, an award-winning music video director who directed videos by such bands as Kiss, Def Leppard, Rush, and Poison in the height of MTV’s 80’s hair-metal hey-day. He later went on to direct videos for alternative rock heroes The Replacements, Faith No More and The Cult. According to the film’s bio, “Fix: The Ministry Movie gives a raw look at the demons artists fight – and create – while attempting to reach, and achieve infamous greatness.” The film also features interviews with Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, Jello Biafra of Dead Kennedys and Lemmy Kilmeister of Motorhead. Douglas Freel will make an appearance at this world premiere and will be joined by Ministry bass player Paul Barker.
