Hot Tickets: Seattle

Here are this week’s hot tickets in the Seattle area. Check back every Thursday at noon, PST for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Friday, March 9 | Emerald City – Triggered by a conversation between playwright SP Miskowski and director Meghan Arnette about the changing cultural identity of Seattle, Emerald City is a haunting love note/ break up letter to the city. Miskowski artfully connects the past and the present as she weaves together history and a personal tale of longing, urban identity and change. A writer is forced to return to Seattle, site of her personal and professional ruin, to cover the story of Dorothy Dietrich. Crashing with a college roommate and proprietor of an earnest yet doomed tour business, and surreptitiously followed by a lover whose interest may be swayed by a surprising suitor, her life is once again changed by a trip she didn’t want to take to a city she hoped never to see again.

Saturday, March 10 | Draw Attack! Costume Session with Brew and Live Music – Georgetown Atelier hosts its first monthly costume figure drawing session, featuring live baroque opera by Jordan Corbin of Watershed Opera and delicious brew from Georgetown Brewing Co! Enjoy the ambience of a working classical art school, which offers participants use of easels, work lamps and controlled lighting. The school is an active part of the Georgetown Art Attack art walk, allowing visitors to respectively witness the drawing session in action. Chinese Mortal Warrior P. Pan will be the model of the evening. Pose will be gestures, followed by 20 minute poses and a final 40 minute pose. Read the rest of this entry »
