TONIGHT, January 4 | Monday Night Tease! presents “Laugh-In” – Join Los Angeles’ longest running weekly burlesque show for a tribute to the that wonderful 60’s whackadoo of a TV show… Laugh-In. It’s a 60’s style shimmy shaking party complete with a wall of jokes and neon painted go-go girls.
Thursday, January 12 | Los Angeles Premiere -“A Girl, A Guy, A Space Helmet” Feature Film Screening – Anthony Backman stars as Walter Kipling, an introverted yet determined inventor at Zspace Industries, who dreams of being a hero in space exploration. After Zspace upper-ups pass over Walter for an upcoming launch in favor of the beautiful Katherine White, Shuttle 9 goes missing. Public protest ensues and Walter’s curiousity causes his termination. Now, the would-be hero and his childhood solar-powered space helmet may be Katherine’s only chance for coming back to Earth alive. Is Walter prepared to accomplish his dreams of life… and love? Kip Weeks and Scott Subiono star with Stephanie Keefer in this comical and at times very moving adventure written and directed by Mike Timm.
Friday, January 13 | O(h) – Dance duo casebolt and smith deconstruct their creative process in an evening of brash humor, lightning-quick repartee, show tunes and imaginative choreography, demonstrating what dancers can, can’t and won’t do as a commentary on their own limitations and fear of becoming unoriginal. Speaking directly to the audience and singing while dancing, the performance is layered with pop culture references- a complex and hilarious glimpse into the minds and pants of the performers.
Saturday, January 14 | The Pin-Down Girls Film Premiere and Benefit Show – Screening of short dance film “ZINGDEED” and live show featuring The Pin-Down Girls, benefitting their next film project. Pre-show by music-driven comedy duo Dakaboom. These two groups are sure to light up your hearts and set your senses on fire!
Saturday, January 14 | Lady Terminator (1989) at midnight – A Quentin Tarantino-curated midnight movie at the New Beverly!
