Monday, December 26 I Introduction to Burlesque This week’s move is Tassel Twirling — the ultimate burlesque trick! You will need to bring pasties with tassels to class for this. There will be a few pairs for sale. If you’re uncomfortable appearing in just pasties, please wear a close-fitting tank-top under your bra and affix the pasties to that. It’s harder to twirl, but we don’t want anyone struggling beyond their comfort level. The week’s striptease lesson is Removing a Bra. Please bring a back-fastening bra to class. See the above note about pasties and comfort levels. That applies here too. For extra fun, students will also be playing with Feather Boas, that quintessential burlesque accessory. If you have a boa, by all means bring it, but they’ll also have some loner boas.
Tuesday, December 27 I Beacon Hill & Back Bay Food Tour Boston Foodie Tours conducts food tours throughout Boston and surrounding neighborhoods. Their tours are descurbed as a “best of” because they include James Beard Award winners, celebrity chefs, “Best of Boston” winners, “Hall of Fame” chowders, and food trucks/carts that have been featured on the Food Network or The Cooking Channel. While tour stops are subject to change to keep tours fresh and new, recent Beacon Hill & Back Bay food tours have started at Lydia Shire’s award-winning restaurant, Scampo, at the Liberty Hotel. Additional tour stops have included Savenor’s Market, Beacon Hill Chocolates, Bacco’s Wine and Cheese, Copley Square Farmers’ Market, Sabatino and Company, Turner Fisheries, popular food trucks, Sweet Cupcakes and Finale Desserts. Find out where Lionel Richie and Bill Murray both dined in recent weeks. (Hint: It’s the same place where the Governor celebrated his wife’s 60th birthday.) Learn where Oprah frequently buys gift baskets. In fact, this shop made her “O” list twice! Looking for a great breakfast spot? Look no further. This tour will introduce you to a 70-year-old+ Boston institution that has served breakfast to the likes of Jack Nicholson, Kevin Costner and Ben Stiller. And what would a visit to Boston be without sampling some chowder? Will “Hall of Fame” chowder do? If that’s not enough, they”ve saved the best for last: dessert. They can’t send you home without that, can they?
