Hot Tickets: Seattle

15 Dec

Every Thursday at noon, PST, Brown Paper Tickets posts upcoming events happening in the Seattle. Here are hot tickets for events coming up. Check back for stellar events that fit the interests of locals and tourists alike.

Tonight! An Improvised Christmas Carol –  Seattle’s funniest Christmas show returns! First performed in 1985, A(n Improvised) Christmas Carol brings Charles Dickens’s Christmas classic to the stage with a twist. What if Scrooge owned a pet store? What if the Ghost of Christmas Past was a Film Noir detective? What if Tiny Tim wasn’t so tiny? The audience gives suggestions up front, and Unexpected Productions’ improvisers use these suggestions to tell an all new tale of how Christmas can (or can’t!) change Ebenezer Scrooge’s life! This is a great show for families, shoppers, tourists, and audience members of all ages.

Tonight!Gigs4Good for Team Up: Drew Grow & TPW’s, Lower Lights Burning, Chris Cunningham –  Come and celebrate the end of another great year with Team Up for Nonprofits. Portland’s Drew Grow & The Pastor’s Wives, Shelton’s Lower Lights Burning and Ravenna Woods’ Chris Cunningham are all coming together to perform a very special Gigs4Good benefit for Team Up at The Tractor on Dec 15th.  The second annual Gigs4Good for Team Up benefit is an opportunity to see some great music while supporting a 501(c)3 organization that works tirelessly to support other great nonprofits in our community.

Tonight!Holiday Hullabaloo 2011 – Breezy Mist Productions presents Holiday Hullabaloo 2011 – a comedy and cabaret benefit for The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, The Abbey Of St Joan at Julia’s On Broadway!

Friday, December 16Dina Martina Christmas Show 2011 – Sleigh bells ring; are you listening?  They’re heralding the arrival of the 61st annual Dina Martina Christmas Show!  Unwittingly hilarious and wonderfully bizarre, Dina Martina is the chanteuse with the leastest; the dancer with the hunchfront; the childlike lady who, year after year, is the holiday gift that truly keeps on giving. A perennial favorite of the likes of John Waters, Margaret Cho, Matt Stone and Graham Norton, Miss Martina’s shows have long been a favorite holiday tradition for those who want something other than the usual holiday fare.

Friday, December 16Pasties for Pups – Baby it’s cold outside! Bundle on up and come help give the animals at PAWS a warm and happy holiday. We’ll be spreading good cheer and holiday spirit while we shake it like a snowglobe. Featuring the warm AND fuzzy burlesque stylings of: Blithe Night, Candy Apples, Cherry Tart, EmpeROAR Fabulous!!!, Flirty Sanchez, Ginger Snapz, Lowa DaBoomboom, Minni Bobbins, Sara Dipity, and Solange Corbeau. With kittens: Lemon Chiffon and Lola Mari Posa. All proceeds of Pasties for Pups go towards the animals at PAWS.

Saturday, December 17The Milosevics at West of Lenin in Seattle – In “The Milosevics.” The Paradise Theatre School takes a poignant and comedic look at political power using interviews, trial transcripts, and public records to tell the story of Slobodan Milosevic’s rise to power and his subsequent trial for crimes against humanity. This musical satire and verbatim documentary theatre piece examines the dramatic four-year long trial of former president Slobodan Milosevic before the international tribunal in The Hague. The case was controversial from the beginning, Milosevic being the first sitting head of state to be indicted by an international court.
