Saturday, November 12 | Zero Film Festival: Zero Film Festival, everyone’s favorite artisan hand-crafted, ultra creative festival for self-financed filmmakers, has returned to their home in Brooklyn! Get a day pass for come and go entry. Doors open at 2 p.m. with complimentary PBR until the first feature at 3 pm — then films, music and fun go until late!
Saturday, November 12 | The India Center’s 5th Anniversary: The India Center, a nonprofit that promotes traditional Indian arts and culture, is turning five! Join them for both their Classical Music Festival and Classical Dance Festival, and leave both productions with a $25 gift certificate.
Sunday, November 13 | How to Make a Contact Mic: This is the workshop for people interested in exploring sound but who have never experimented with electronics before. The workshop will start with an introduction to the contact mic each student will be making, how it sounds in regards to different materials and where it has been used in well known, experimental musical pieces. Students will also learn about the piezo electric effect and soldering safety as they get hands-on with the materials. There will be time for trouble shooting and general how-to tips along the way that will ensure you will be making noise by the end of the class. No prior experience necessary.
Thursday, November 17 | Williamsburg Independent Film Festival Opening Night: The WIFF Mission is to attract, encourage and celebrate new and independent filmmakers, offering them an opportunity to exhibit and promote their creative works in one of the most dynamic neighborhoods in all of New York City: Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Opening night films are Guard Dog Global Jam, Poker Face, and The Green.
