TONIGHT! | Drunk Puppet Nite: A cluster of Seattle area puppeteers working to expand the public’s definition of puppetry by bringing a blend of the surprising, the bizarre, and the artistically excellent, to audiences around the Puget Sound area. More shows tomorrow and Saturday, plus next weekend!
Friday, November 4 | Rocky Horror Show presented by The Schoolyard: Rocky is back! Sold out at Open Circle Theater last spring, The Schoolyard presents a remount of the raunchy, wicked rendering of Richard O’Brien’s modern classic, The Rocky Horror Show, returning to excite even more of you time-warping Transylvanians. A down and dirty version of the classic rock musical, The Rocky Horror Show will leave you titillated and maybe a little scared.
Saturday, November 5 | THE ABBEY PRESENTS CATHEDRALS #2 with My Brightest Diamond, Kelli Schaefer, Cataldo: Local nonprofit, nonreligious arts organization The Fremont Abbey curates a second show at St Mark’s Cathedral on Capitol Hill! Open seating on benches, floor, chairs, etc. in the style of Compline. Feel free to bring cushions/blankets/etc. and sit up close or around the massive space. St Mark’s is a partially finished Cathedral with very unique acoustics and a very high ceiling.
Sunday, November 6 | Lynn Rosetto Kasper and Sally Swift, The Splendid Table’s How To Eat Weekends: Book Larder’s favorite companion in the kitchen is Lynn Rosetto Kasper, host of NPR’s “The Splendid Table.” Now, with producer and co-author Sally Swift, Lynn has produced the perfect book with which to plan those slightly-more-elaborate Sunday dinners, The Splendid Table’s How To Eat Weekends. We’re thrilled to welcome Lynn and Sally to Book Larder, where they’ll share their own favorite weekend meal stories. And if you ever considered calling their show with one of your kitchen dilemmas, this is your chance to get it answered in person, over Caffe Vita coffee and something tasty from their new book.
Monday, November 7 | Chamber vs. Chamber No. 8 Kimya Dawson + Dream Hampton: Expect some new songs, plus “a dialogue with Kimya about her newest album’s major and minor themes: oceans, cancer, transgendered heros, feeling safe in your own skin, saving public libraries and making big albums in a small, familial way.”
Sunday, October 2 I John Hodgman and Friends at Town Hall Seattle: Early word here on what should be a fun, special evening as John Hodgman is here with his new book, That is All (Dutton), the concluding installment of his Complete World Knowledge trilogy, following The Areas of My Expertise and More Information Than You Require. As usual, it’ll be quite a show, with additional performers to be announced. Books will be distributed at the event and a book signing is included.
