TONIGHT! MISS TESS & THE BON TON PARADE – CD RELEASE! with special guest BILLY WYLDER Miss Tess & The Bon Ton Parade explore the missing links between blues, jazz, country, and folk with original songwriting fully up to the challenge. This once Boston, now Brooklyn-based artist won “Outstanding Folk Artist of the Year” in the 2008 Boston Music Awards, and was then nominated the following years in the Phoenix for “Best Jazz Act” in 2009, and “Best Roots Act” in 2010. They tour nationally an continue to bring an engaging show to audiences everywhere.

Sunday, September 18 Grow Your Own Mushrooms Love gourmet mushrooms?  Curious about the medicinal benefits of fungi? This workshop will discuss several varieties of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms, including Shitake, Oyster, Maitake, Reishi, and Lion’s Mane, as well as several methods of cultivation.  Participants will learn how to grow mushrooms in their own home, no matter how small the space.  Presenter Allison Fastman will go over all the necessary materials, most of which are common household items, as well as how to get materials for little to no cost.  In addition, participants will go home with oyster or shitake mushroom spawn and instructions for how to grow them at home!

Sunday, September 18 Think Small: BOSTON The East African Center is proud to present “THINK SMALL” featuring a film screening of the inspirational and award winning documentary “A Small Act” directed by Jennifer Arnold.
