Thursday, September 15 36th Annual San Francisco Standup Comedy Competition: The San Francisco International Comedy Competition is one of America’s longest-running and most prestigious comedy contests. 30 comedians will perform at a large variety of venues all around the Bay Area as they attempt to move past the preliminary rounds into the semi-finals and into the winner’s circle, featuring one of the largest cash prizes of any comedy competition in the nation. Previous contestants have included Robin Williams, Ellen Degeneres, Dane Cook, Dana Carvey, Patton Oswalt, Kevin Pollack, Louis CK and many more.
Thursday, September 15 (and all weekend!) Something Else: A Fluxus Semicentenary: Other Minds presents a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Fluxus. The three-day series includes performances by Alison Knowles, film screenings, a special exhibition curated by Other Minds, a radio tribute, and new realizations of groundbreaking Fluxus works by Knowles, La Monte Young, Yoko Ono and George Brecht.
Opening Friday, September 16 The 2011 San Francisco Latino Film Festival: This festival, presented by Cine+Mas, showcases new work by filmmakers from Latin America, Spain, and the US. Expect screenings, opportunities to meet filmmakers, and great parties!
